Gardening, at this time of year, is basically just crowd control. I spend every dry minute pruning or weeding, trying to keep out all the plants that want to move in. 

 Sadly, this lovely buddleja was one of the problems. It had grown all over the back of the shed roof and damaged the felt. Sorry buddleja, but you're gonna have to shrink.
But at least it will be useful. The prunings have been left for the enjoyment of the local wildlife. Someone recently asked me if I had an insect hotel. Not so much a hotel, more like a high density housing estate!
